The Well’s Policy On Holy Matrimony

July 6, 2015 by Fr. Tom Woodle

While the clergy, staff and people of The Well recognize that in this day and time there are many voices and ideas concerning the proper relationships between men and women, and while The Well welcomes all people for worship and membership in our church, regardless of their sexual orientation, we do abide by the tradtional scriptural affirmation of marriage:

” 6 But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. 7 For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, 8 and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.” (from Mark chapter 10 and reaffirmed by Paul in Ephesians, Chapter 5).

Therefore, we do not perform, endorse or bless same-sex unions, holding to the traditional teaching of marriage as found in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible and in two thousand years of Church history.
